The Dutch pregnancy journey

How does kraamzorg work?

Practical support in the first days with your baby. A new beginning for you, too.

Support in your home

A kraamverzorgende helps you learn baby care and feeding, and monitors your recovery and your baby. Together, you discover what your family needs.

Arrange it early

Register early because providers can fill up. Ask your midwife about local organisations. An intake often takes place around week 30 to discuss the support you need.

Check your insurance

Kraamzorg is covered by basic Dutch health insurance, with a personal contribution. Check the contribution and any additional cover with your insurer. Arrange your care directly with the provider.

General information, not personal medical advice. Discuss your situation with your care provider.
