The Dutch pregnancy journey

NIPT & pregnancy scans

What would you like to know? Prenatal screening begins with your choice.

A conversation before you decide

Discuss the options and limits of prenatal screening with your midwife or obstetrician. You decide whether to have screening. No test can rule out everything.

Three timings to know

NIPT is a blood test available from 10 weeks. The 13-week scan takes place between 12 and 14 weeks, and the 20-week scan between 18 and 21 weeks. These scans look for possible physical abnormalities.

Your questions matter

Ask what a result might mean, what follow-up may be offered, and how to book. PNS provides current explanations and precise timings; your care provider discusses what applies to you.
